Its not a race to win

“Maine to papa se kaha tha pass karwa digie, unhone to top hi karwa dia”says Ruby Rai to police as per a  leading newspaper’s report.

A state where Gautam buddha got enlightment under Bodhi tree in Bodh Gaya, a state which gave  ‘The  Nalanda University’to the world and a state which produces maximum number of I.A.S every year. From producing toppers to producing scamsters , what if the education system of the state is loosing it??

An Arts stream topper struggling and fumbling to answer basic questions and mispronouncing Political science as “Prodigal Science” . This is surely not what Bihar has to offer , a state who has its people doing well in different walks of life and work in country and  all over World.

Who is at Fault??

As far as safety is concerned, I think the student Ruby Rai was arrested in Patna on saturday. Ruby ,the topper in Bihar Intermediate exam, she had been sent to Patna’s Beur jail for 2weeks , A place which she probably deserves ,a place which any criminal would go. Have they arrested a culprit or created one??

A very famous cartoon “Powerpuff girls ” had a very popular saying “bala tali . Powerpuff girls ki badaolat” now that the Powerpuff police of our state have saved the Education system of bihar by arresting the Culprit, i think we have secured the Future of our state. Who are we kidding??

On a very popular social networking site ,i saw this post ,I can relate it with my thoughts about the whole incident.

“Ruby arrested. Okay. But why just Ruby?? Her parents, her neibhours. Arrest them for the pressure they built on her to be a Topper! Her teacher. Arrest them for failing in making her understand what was being taught and society, must be arrested for the ignorance Nd the failure in accepting the ‘not good in studies breed’ Everyone responsible for such education system where the students have all the ‘options’ but a nice educational atmosphere and those who are here to govern all such system MP’S , MLA’S, including the CM of Bihar! That’s a collective failure.Arrest them all. Why just Ruby??”

I add to it ” Arrest the parents for not teaching her that  good marks can be  fetched by hardwork and not by giving bribes and they should be arrested for setting worst examples of parents to the state ,Country and the world. Though they won’t be , we do not have any law for this social evil, as we cannot see the one who dies in this case.

Expectations: they are good ,bad and worse

We want to see numbers as high as 100’s,not even 99 and 98 means worse than failing the exam. Expectations ,for they are good ,bad and worse, we want to create scholars but scholars are not created in a day. Parents, school, teachers everybody want the results, in this whole game of scores somewhere a kid is loosing the battle and nobody cares, because all of us are busy expecting marks, the want has hiked so much that now ,the numbers are bought and sold . Aftereffects of this whole” topper scam” we should ask ourselves if the value of marks is more than that of learning?? I wish we could buy knowledge in exchange of money ,its a better use of money rather than shaming the education system and raising thousands of questions on our state by giving and not to forget ,receiving bribes and announced as a Topper.

“DO NOT PRESSURIZE the children to be the best, instead appreciate the BEST IN THEM.”

Probably we all have have cheated in exams sometime in our life , there we may have taken  it lightly but sometimes it reverts back as  we start from cheating ourselves and end up cheating  our state and country.

A confession: I used to lie because i  did not want my parents to know that i am weak or that i cannot do as well in studies as my friends or other classmates are doing.I told my father that “i got 99 in Math’s ” i didnt want  him to know that i got just 54.I always wanted them to believe that their daughter is as good as other children. I wanted my neibhours for once not to tease me for getting lesser marks.A looking back  through these screenshots.

Its not Important to become a topper, its important to have a life time learning ,in order to make society a better place , starting from our home is highly appreciated.

  1. Its not at all Ruby’s fault, her parents and the people who are supporting such misleading thing are the real culprit…
Where will the hell will this lead the students, just getting good marks in 10 or 12th can’t make their furture….

    1. True, this is what i wanted to convey through this blog. People are running after marks without thinking about the ground reality.

  2. I agree with your views, wat happened in Bihar is not the the students fault , instead it is all because of the corrupt education policy, although being a bihari , i never wanted to study in bihar board coz of its rapport, everyone knows how well educated teacher are there to teach in Bihar’s government school, arresting a girl won’t change all this , i agree she was a part of all the mischievous act, but she wasn’t alone the people involved with her shud get more punishment than her,the main culprit is her parents who taught her that they can buy everything for her, even a degree

    1. We can only help our state to come up and make a good impression and we can only drgrade it, its our choice. I choose to give my contribution to the state, even if its 1%.

  3. Very well said.. You actually highlighted the main reason of this scam and you r absolutely correct its not only Rubi’s falut by its our society who is making these types of culprits. According to the society if you want to survive you have to beat ur competition in order to succed or else u r nowhere.. and as u said its only importnt for them to be the topper not to have a lifetime learning. This is the reason why Rubi proves to be culprit.

    1. I have failed to understand that whether Ruby is culprit or victim?? She has done wrong but she is the smallest unit of this whole corrupt system. People of Bihar has always made us proud but this is surely a big shock to the state.

  4. great piece hats off !
But society is not the sole culprit. Neither the expectations of guardians are the only reason for this mayhem. We missed a key role of ” log kya sochenge ” mindset . If people compare us like products why we let their words worth our attention ? If parents expects more than our ability why don’t we let the truth out ? The real truth is that this world is easy to change if we change ourselves first !

    1. This log kya sochenge’ is society only…and we all are a part of this ‘log kya kahenge’ society, pressure on children sometimes make them leave the real world and force them to rather be in denial …society is the main culprit here , everyone wants to get a 100 , but the race takes us somewhere else, sometimes we cannot even go back. Every small droplets make a ocean and in this case what you said is correct ,that we should change ourselves first.

    1. Yes you can think like this. North Indians, ugh have they started feeling safe where they are?? Yeah, probably that is why they are seeing this as an opportunity , finally they got some time. Great, and about Bihar, its great that all this came out, atleast now we can work on it in order to make it right ,no one need to crack jokes on others, they just need to see themselves in mirror.

I ws sitting in an examination hall to give my internals…n suddenly saw one of boy who ws being scolded by a teacher saying dat ” this z not your Bihar where u can just cheat n pass ,here u hv to work hard n study to pass”, dat shows how Bihar z exposed in such negative way… few days later aajtak channel showed video of Bihar teachers doing cheating in exam…some of dem ws nt knowing d full form of d subject for which dey were writing…….our state needs to develop broadly in education system… if v continue to remain same in terms of corruption n mentality den v r ruining our future generation…most importantly u should do a work by choice not by chance…..which u hv perfectly doing wid ur profession yashi n I hope u r enjoying it too.

  7. It is an apt criticism for the current scenario of education system in Bihar. I agree with you. This scam has brought shame to Bihar more than any other because we used to pride ourselves as a state which has given uncountable intellectuals to the nation. A state of hardworking and sincere students. The scam has given a major blow to this image. The government must bring in reforms and justice to bihar’s education system as soon as possible so as to reinstate student’s faith in study and sincerity.

As for the society and parents, it’s not only Charity which begins at home but also instilling moral values, honesty and love into the children so they can face any situation in life without bowing down to the corrupt and evil and create a better society.
